(Washington, D.C.) – On behalf of the African American Mayors Association (AAMA), AAMA President and Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard extends her most heartfelt prayers and condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of the horrific mass shooting at the Allen, TX outlet mall.

“Yet again, a city faces a brutal tragedy and families face devastating loss in the wake of a horrifying and senseless act of gun violence. Our hearts ache for the loved ones of the victims and the entire Allen, TX community,” said Mount Vernon Mayor and AAMA President Shawyn Patterson-Howard. Congress cannot afford to wait any longer to take serious action against unending gun violence in this nation and enact common sense gun control laws.”

The African American Mayors Association (AAMA) is the only organization dedicated to representing over 500 African American mayors across the United States. AAMA seeks to empower local leaders for the benefit of their citizens.
